Stubborn Fanatic – Tech Blog is a personal blog run by Vivek Sanghi, Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It is not a business, it sells nothing, and it carries no advertising.
What is collected
Comments
If you leave a comment, WordPress stores the name and email address you type, your IP address and your browser user-agent string. The last two are kept because they are what makes spam filtering possible. Your email address is never published and never shared.
An anonymised hash of your email may be sent to the Gravatar service so that your avatar can be displayed. Gravatar’s own privacy policy governs what it does with that.
Server logs
The site is hosted by DreamHost in the United States. Its web server records the usual access log entries — IP address, timestamp, page requested, referrer, user-agent — for every visitor. These are operational records used for diagnosing faults and identifying abuse. I do not analyse them for anything else.
Cookies
- If you leave a comment you may opt to save your name, email and website in cookies, so you do not have to retype them. These last one year.
- If you log in to the site (only I do), WordPress sets session and preference cookies.
- There are no advertising cookies, no tracking pixels and no third-party analytics beacons on this site.
Embedded content
Some posts embed content from other sites — images, video, code examples. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited that other site, and those sites may collect data about you under their own policies. I have no control over that.
What is not collected
No advertising networks. No behavioural profiling. No data broking. Nothing is sold, rented or traded, and nothing ever will be. Earlier versions of this site, years ago, carried third-party ad code; that is long gone.
How long it is kept
Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely, so that a conversation from 2007 still reads as a conversation. Server logs rotate on the host’s own schedule. If you want your comment or its metadata removed, ask and it will be done.
Your rights
Whatever the statutory position at any given moment, you may ask me to tell you what the site holds about you, correct it, or delete it. Write to me and I will act on it.
On the legal position as it stands today: the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 has been brought into force in stages, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules 2025 were notified on 14/11/2025 with the substantive compliance obligations commencing about eighteen months later. Until then the operative framework is the Information Technology Act 2000 and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules 2011. This policy is written to sit comfortably with both, and will be revised as the DPDP obligations commence.
